Statistical summary of my year

2007 is over, and what a year it was! It was a year of transition and living upside down for me. Here are some stats to give you an idea:

Number of times I moved: 4
Number of companies with which I had a full time job: 4 (incl. my own company)
Amount of time spent away from home (wherever that was): 3 months
Countries Visited: 4 (not counting transits)
Distance Flown: 80,872 mi
Longest Bike Ride: 73 mi
Longest Car Trip: 1,845 mi

Being unsettled created an amazing amount of stress for me in 2007. However, I couldn’t be happier where the year is ending. The bike ride statistic was accomplished yesterday when Ben and I biked from our place in Cambridge to Newport, Rhode Island. Im a little sore, but dancing tonight should loosen me up. See you next year!

ib0rk3d: Clever ways to replace a broken unlocked iPhone?

Iphone error messageI declared gallantly that I had unlocked my iPhone. It was great while it lasted. Then the phone stopped working. I guess am left with an Apple i or an iPod touch. As a natural born tinkerer, I decided to revirginize and reflash the phone to 1.1.1 and unlock again (aside: Ben suggested that it would be great if you could revirginize people too). My first revirginizing effort was not a success. The software crashed while revirginizing. I tried a few different things. Eventually I was able to revirginize the phone. I got 1.1.1 back on there, unlocked again and voila! It worked…. for a few hours. Read the rest of this entry »

In tech start-ups people matter, not companies

While we were interviewing a potential candidate, Brian started on an interesting topic that made me think. He started talking about building relationships with people, not companies. He described most companies in the tech world as: “younger than his kids”. Read the rest of this entry »

Why I chose flickr over picasa web albums

flickr stats for my accountAbout a month ago, I decided to use Picasa Web Albums. After arriving back from Argentina, I realized if I were to upload my pictures to Picasa Web Albums, I would very quickly run out of space.

Michelle who was on my trip had her photos on flickr and my friend Brian in Betahouse used flickr. So, I decided to give it a shot. I love it and wouldnt switch back. Read the rest of this entry »

Sample facebook emailDo you hear that?
It’s the sound of silence. It’s the sound of my inbox no longer receiving email from applications my “friends” use. Ninjas vs. Pirates, do I really care. Here’s one I received recently: Read the rest of this entry »
