I’ve got this blog, I’ve got pintmaster.com, I’ve got a picasaweb account. It’s a confusing mess! I’ve got lots of “stuff” I need to share with friends. Granted, i’ve got my rel=me links in the sidebar. But, giving you guys that stuff to do something with isn’t enough. We’re all lazy. We want someone or something else to do the heavy lifting. In comes tumblr Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve always been cynical about charities. I believe that in general, charities have too much waste. I attended a charity event called “Linus bats for kids”. The event took place at Fenway Park and was in support of Horizons for Homeless Children. According to Charity Navigator, Horizons for Homeless Children is a pretty decent charity. That makes me happier since I gave them money Read the rest of this entry »

Bootstrapping is generally applied to self-funding your startup. However, you can use the principle to apply to any facet of your life. Bootstrapping helps you identify and eliminate waste. It forces you to make hard decisions on what’s really important and what isn’t. Whether you’re starting a business, trying to get your finances in order or save for retirement. There are times when anyone will want to bootstrap. Read the rest of this entry »

Beyond open social networks, I’m interested in lifestream data; data that answers the questions: Who? What? Where? When? Why? - Who is doing it?, What are they doing?, Where are they doing it? When are they doing it? Twitter attacks the “what” problem well. Their goal is to capture anytime, anywhere what you want to disclose you are doing and make it public. Well, this is all good and well, but I’d like to know a little more. Read the rest of this entry »

Over my life as a blogger, I’ve written several articles specifically naming companies. Whether it was my Silverleaf Resorts, Westgate Resorts or Answerstop Voicemail posts on my old blog. Or my post yesterday on Ameriprise Financial. The question is, how should companies respond to criticism (warranted or unwarranted) from the blogosphere. Read the rest of this entry »

When we built Gossipr, the focus was pretty simple - make something that people will be compelled to use. Unfortunately, the motivation we’re using is largely a negative one: “I hope that it’s not about me”. It took an email from my friend Kristian to realize the full magnitude of how evil (and not in a good way) the app is. Read the rest of this entry »

Gossipr, the application I have been working on for a couple of weeks is now live. It is essentially a Web 2.0 way to spread gossip and rumors about your friends. People usually spread rumors and gossip on the phone or even in email. Now, there’s a better way Read the rest of this entry »

My friend Srirup invited me to a “free lunch” (the cynic in me knows nothing is free). Ultimately the cost of this lunch was my time for 20 minutes to listen to a sales pitch, and me taking (or not) a follow up call. Im not going to do business with Ameriprise because of the lunch. I’ve never liked wires. I am, however, a nerd with a lot of gadgets. I get rid of things, make them smaller or make them wireless when I can. I just redid my Keyboard and Mouse situation.
Before

This is my desktop up until today. My massive microsoft bluetooth keyboard and mouse were spilling off of the keyboard tray and it was super annoying.
