That's a very true deduction. I used to go working out with my best friend all of the time, and we both developed healthy eating habits. So needless to say we're both quite thin, despite both of us having "fat" parents.

So friends are clearly the higher factor. Neither of us will ever pressure the other to eat unhealthy.

I'd like to even take it further to say the WHERE determines the WHO's of your life. Your workplace, your hangout spot, your favorite restaurant. For example, if you go to bars and clubs, you're likely to meet a certain type of person. If you go to rock concerts, different people are there.

Since I'm a constantly traveling businessman for example, so far the #1 WHERE for me has been at 30,000 feet in the air on my regular business trips to Hong Kong and Seoul. I've met some of the best business contacts I wouldn't trade for anything. I've met interesting personalities (like a fmr. colonel over Saddam's detention facility), as well as made a few girlfriends.

So branch out. If you hang out at places that serve fatty food, you just might end up with some fatty friends or a girlfriend who puts on 50 pounds after marriage.

The WHERE determines the WHO, then those WHO's will often determine WHERE you go. i.e. You make a friend at a workout club, so you go to workout more often. Or you make a friend at a concert, so you go to more concerts.

Controlling the WHERE lets you control, to an extent, WHO is in your life.
