Interesting article to read as i'm also having trouble getting reasonably priced fast connection in Bali. From what i've tried so far Telkom Speedy is the best bang for the buck with a relative fast connection. Unlimited 1mbit down 128kb up is about 800 thousand rupiah a month which is 'ok' compared to blueline, global extreme and Indosat or any other service available at the moment. I've found the 3G/3.5G services are way too unstable for me (i'm a gamer so latency, fast and stable connection is a must!.. not all work you know ho ho ho..) and Speedy can at least provide a decent connection. 1mbit is in reality about 0.5 to 0.8 and 128kb up is about 80kb. Enough to have some 'laggy' fun on Singapore game servers.

I'm still waiting for the day when 'at least' 2 to 4mbit down (abroad, not just within Indonesia) and 1mbit up will be available for a reasonable monthly fee.. like, let's say 400 thousand rupiah a month, but i guess it'll be a while before we get there. Oh no.. not like Boston and no way near Sweden. Last time i went there the gamers had at least 24 to 100mbit downstream... Hey thanks again for the article. Very interesting reading! / Tompa

Hah, I didn't know that Indosat is already offering 3G or 3.5G in Bali when writing this post:

Anyway, good that there are more and more options now. Hopefully we all can enjoy more and more bandwidth for less and less money over the next couple of months....

Cheers,
